Zoya’s Naked Manicure Rescue and Repair kit

This is a pretty nice kit - not only as an intro to the Naked Manicure collection, but as a good way to get two pretty key components at a decent discount.

The Rescue Serum ($30 for a .5oz bottle) is a liquid that you apply to bare, freshly-cleaned fingernails once every 7-21 days. It’s supposed to soak into the nail bed and help repair your nail - apply the Gelie-Cure Rescue Repair Base Coat on top of it, and then add your desired manicure shade. I used this for two months, and I did find that it helped my nails be a little stronger. My biggest nail issues were ridges and thin, easily-torn nails. After two months of using these two items, my nails still had ridges, but they were a little less pronounced; and while I still can’t keep my nails longer for too much time, I think that’s largely because I’ve never learned how to watch out for the things that would eventually get one nail torn or broken (usually dragging my garbage cans to the curb, or shutting my car door - things that habitual false nail users or someone who regularly has very long natural nails would have learned to do more carefully, to avoid damage to their nails.) When they are long, they are a bit more durable without being brittle.

I have not gotten the entire Naked Manicure kit, and I’m not all that likely to do so. I personally don’t see a reason to buy all of those extra components when I already have a base coat that I wear when I don’t wear nail polish (well, now I have two.)

The trick with the Rescue Serum is not to use too much, then thoroughly rub it into the nail bed. The directions say to put a drop on your left index finger, then pick up half of that drop with your right index finger, and use that amount (half a drop) to apply across the five fingers. If there’s extra moisture on the nail beds when you apply the Rescue Base Coat, it might not adhere too well. I have used this with Zoya’s Anchor base coat, and my manicure still gave me the same performance that I expected. (I also found out that when it’s over 100 degrees outside, the serum seems to evaporate faster. Thank you, heat dome, for contributing to this review now don’t come back to the PNW again thanks.)

The Gelie-Cure Repair Base Coat ($24 for a .5oz bottle) works about the same as Zoya’s Anchor base coat. Its main benefit, according to the manufacturer, is that it’s able to lock the Rescue Serum into the nail so that it can do its work repairing and strengthening said nail. It is a little thicker than Anchor. It applies well, and my nail polish works fine with it. I switched out its brush for a Z-Wide, as I prefer those brushes - especially when applying nail colors or coats to my non-dominant hand.

Buying either of the treatments on their own would mean paying $54. This kit gives you a 23% discount, on top of the free bag, orange stick, and nail file. The bags are excellent for travel makeup/nail care bags, so in my opinion this kit is a great deal.
