TKB Trading’s Matte Blue Pop

TKB Trading’s Matte Blue Pop

Posted on Thursday, at

Halfway between “pool-queue chalk” and a cool sapphire. This does stain a bit, so make sure you use a base, like a cream shadow or shadow pencil. Like all of the Pop colors, it has ingredients to increase longevity and make application easier, so while I still would use a...

Dawn Eyes Cosmetics’ Divas and Dramas collection

Dawn Eyes Cosmetics’ Divas and Dramas collection

The Dramatica colors (which are apparently repromotes from a previous year’s Halloween collection) remind me a bit of Aromaleigh’s old Bete Noire colors: they’re very definitely blackened, and make amazing eyeliners. The final six colors in this collection are based off of the colorshifting Premiums - which...

This is almost a neutral brown. The frost finish isn’t quite smooth enough to be a pearl finish, but it doesn’t really block too much of the base shade. I don’t know that I have too many other browns like this, even with all of the browns...

TKB Trading’s Red Oxide

Posted on Monday, at

I got this kind of on a whim. I knew that any oxide - that is, pure colorant either minimally adulterated by other ingredients or not diluted at all - would have extremely good color payoff. I wasn’t sure how good its staying power would be, though. It’s...

This one softens and loses a lot of its intensity when you apply it. It doesn’t layer all that easily, either. On the upside, if you want a neutral-cool purple that’s a little softer but not completely pale, this works fairly well.

TKB Trading’s Coral Reef Blue

TKB Trading’s Coral Reef Blue

Nails Inc’s Dream Dust

Nails Inc’s Dream Dust

Posted on Wednesday, at

The second half of Nails Inc.‘s Unicorn duo. This is almost a one-coat polish, even without deliberately applying it thicker. Two coats (for me) sees the gold overwhelming the fuchsia-rose base color. A third coat…pretty much was a sparkly gold metallic manicure. Not a bad look, just one...

Shiro Cosmetics’ Into the Unknown collection

Shiro Cosmetics’ Into the Unknown collection

Posted on Tuesday, at

I’m only guessing, but I think I know what Shiro’s color-pixies were working on, when they created the colors that eventually ended up in Recipes for Human Food. A lot of these shades look similar to shades in that collection. (That’s my explanation for not spotting any...
