NYX Cosmetics’ Apricot Chrome

NYX Cosmetics’ Apricot Chrome

This isn’t very “apricot” to me, it’s a pinkish. Kind of watery pink, almost a softer “watermelon.” I like this shade, and it applied fairly nicely. Like all eyeshadows I wear, I get better results when I wear a primer. (Such is the gift of oily hooded lids. Nothing Stays Put.)

Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser

Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser

Posted on Sunday, at

Manufacturers have started changing their formulas in the past ten years, offering soaps and shampoos whose ingredients are less harsh and damaging to skin and hair while still actually cleaning off dirt and older oils. Cetaphil has been around since 1947, when it was first marketed by the dermatologist who came up with it. The Gentle Skin Cleanser does what I need it to do, does it well, and doesn’t cost an outrageous amount.

Sephora’s Contour Eye Pencil in Diamonds are Forever

Sephora’s Contour Eye Pencil in Diamonds are Forever

Another metallic silver liner - this one applies fairly smoothly and evenly. I don’t get the skipping or flaking that I do with some other silver liner pencils. That said, it’s nearly impossible to keep a sharp tip on this one! I don’t know if it’s because of the silver, but this pencil seems softer than most other pencils in this lineup, even the other metallic-finish pencils.

HiFi Cosmetics’ Crystal Moon

HiFi Cosmetics’ Crystal Moon

This is almost more of a light warm-ish brown than an orange…but it leans just close enough. It’s a sparkle finish, and the sparkle doesn’t really buff away. If there’s a duotone with this one, they way there are with some of the other Labyrinth colors, it’s so much more subtle.

CND’s Vinylux Cuppa Joe (277)

CND’s Vinylux Cuppa Joe (277)

This was a limited-edition, limited-availability shade. I had to jump through a few hoops to get myself two bottles (two, because I liked the swatches that I saw online, and decided to save on shipping when I did find a store selling it.) It goes on easily and gives full coverage in two coats, and the shimmer is hidden in the layers of color but is strong enough that it’s visible when the lighting hits the manicure correctly. (I...

Sleek Makeup’s Diamond Decade i-Divine palette

Sleek Makeup’s Diamond Decade i-Divine palette

Posted on Tuesday, at

For their tenth anniversary, Sleek released an i-Divine palette with blacks, greys, and hot pinks. I finally bought one just before all of their i-Divines left rotation, but it honestly gets used the least out of all my Sleek palettes. I like the fuchsia and hot pink eyeshadows, and some of the medium charcoals. But it’s got a lot of sootier darker colors that I just don’t use that much of, personally.

Sigil Inspired’s Sun Warrior

Sigil Inspired’s Sun Warrior

I like this color…but it’s almost exactly identical to TKB Trading’s Bolera mica - right down to the pink shimmer. The coverage seems a little more opaque, but that factor alone doesn’t account for the huge jump in price versus TKB. It even behaves similar to Bolera: I have to use a primer to get opacity; and if I want all-day longevity I need to either touch up mid-day, or use a light fixative.

Kiko Cosmetics’ Long Lasting Stick Shadow in Pearly White (01)

Kiko Cosmetics’ Long Lasting Stick Shadow in Pearly White (01)

Posted on Saturday, at

I love these Stick Shadows! Even ones in a color that I don’t normally love. Actually, it’s the consistency of this one that I don’t care for quite so much. The pearl finish isn’t smooth because the underlying color doesn’t seem to want to go on evenly.

Shiro Cosmetics’ On Your Mark, Get Set, Bake! blush

Shiro Cosmetics’ On Your Mark, Get Set, Bake! blush

I opted to only get two of the items from the cool-toned Signature collection: the periwinkle-blue Tiers of Joy eyeshadow, and this blush.
