Alphabet Nail Challenge: B is for Boho Gold (by Maybelline)

I’m participating in an Alphabet Nail Challenge that I found over at Confessions of a Secret Shopper. She’s running her contest from September 1 to 26 - start between those dates, and you can add your link to the list of people taking the challenge. All you have to do is post 26 manicures, one a day, each day using a polish that begins with a different letter of the alphabet. I’m using this as an opportunity to go through my backlog of polishes (and photos still on my hard drive!!) to show off some of my newer goodies.

I finally saw the Maybelline Fashion Week 2012 collection at my local drugstores, and managed to get some of the nail polishes. This one, Boho Gold, is “the Chanel Peridot” dupe of the lot. It applies smoothly, it’s an interesting shade, but if you don’t get it, don’t be heartbroken. Most of the duochrome effects you see in the bottle come from the colorshift visible at the curvature. There isn’t a whole lot visible on the nails. Peridot definitely has more color shift. Heck, even China Glaze’s Rare and Radiant, its version of Peridot, has more duochrome qualities. I don’t even know that this polish is thick enough to use as a nail stamping polish.

I’m not tearing my hair out over buying this color, but you shouldn’t be similarly upset if you can’t get your hands on a bottle.

Beauty Tip

Soften a too-rich lipstick by blotting and then dusting your lips with finishing powder. (This also helps set the color.)
