Alphabet Nail Challenge: J is for Joy (by Zoya)

I'm participating in an Alphabet Nail Challenge that I found over at Confessions of a Secret Shopper. She's running her contest from September 1 to 26 - start between those dates, and you can add your link to the list of people taking the challenge. All you have to do is post 26 manicures, one a day, each day using a polish that begins with a different letter of the alphabet. I'm using this as an opportunity to go through my backlog of polishes (and photos still on my hard drive!!) to show off some of my newer goodies.

I've had Joy for a while, but it's been so long…that I hadn't started taking photos of my manicures for the site yet. So yay, I get to combine tasks. (This is also the first nail polish that I've used for this challenge, that had previously been written up. All of the others were polishes that were in my “to use” basket; or I'd done a manicure with them and hadn't yet had time to process all the photos.)

Joy is a bright rose-pink with a very faint gold shimmer. Most of the gold shimmer is in the bottle, and doesn't show very well on my nails, even after three coats. Two coats gave me full coverage for this, but I tried three to see if I could get the gold shimmer to show up more. I suspect that the gold shimmer in this one is a bit like the red-and-gold shimmer in Essie's Armed and Ready: it's very faint indoors, just a subtle suggestion; but in sunlight it's a bit more visible. However, even then, the gold isn't contrasting against a dark background color like Armed and Ready's grey, so this is very much a polish where you need to like the base color for itself, because the gold shimmer is just the faintest suggestion.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches
