Aromaleigh v2’s Moulin Rouge collection

Aromaleigh v2’s Moulin Rouge collection
  • Manufacturer: Aromaleigh v2
  • Availability: beginning April 2012 from the webstore
  • Contains: 35 eyeshadows
  • Cost/Amount: USD$7 for 1.2 grams
  • Would you purchase again: a few colors, yes

Aromaleigh (v2) released some limited-edition collections, then started building their regular “stock” line…then released a pair of LE collections, this and one with Pantone-inspired colors. I was less interested in the Pantone collection, but ended up getting just over half of the shades in this Moulin Rouge collection. (I will admit: the Memorial Day BOGO sale helped that somewhat.)

They did note that some of the colors were a bit less pigmented than previous Aromaleigh collections - created to be “easy wear,” as they put it. It was nice to have that warning ahead of time, even with the skin swatches. When I got the samples, a few colors were sheerer than suggested, a few were brighter than they appeared in the official skin swatches, and a few others I was able to confirm: nice enough, but not for me. Knickers and Garter are a pairing that works well on me, and I can add Madame to the mix for a second, slightly warmer purple. I initially didn’t think I’d like Fee very much because of the described sheer nature of the color, but it’s one of my favorites, mostly for its versatility and ability to layer well.

I haven’t had the chance to photograph all of the shades I bought in full-size yet, and I’ve photographed a few more (Soiree, Courtesan, Bustier…) but haven’t had time to get the photos cropped and resized. But here’s detail- and swatch-photos of eleven of them…

I thought you might gravitate toward the purples!! I have that one in full size, but I like Madame a little better.

My favorite makeup product now is Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear.

I’ve used other things by PF, but not Mineral Wear (I’ve seen it, but rarely taken a good look at it.) What are its strongest ponits?

I’ve been curious to try Aromaleigh since they came back as V2. I think I like Maribou the best, falling hard for sparkle these days

I was cautious, too - I also wanted to see if they would be producing more than just eyeshadows. They’ve got a fairly good (re)start on a full line. I bought two of their corrective finishing powders, though I’m still kind of in mourning for my Coquille Vert. That was the best correcting powder I’d tried!!

My favorite product, even though I still need practice using it is Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy.  That stuff utterly transforms everything.  I just wish I could learn to use it and still be able to blend.  Good Stuff.

I got to the point where I’d use PE to hold my liner shade in place, but just use UDPP under the rest of my shadows. That was my issue with PE, too - it’s utterly top notch if you’re wearing one color over most of your lid, but it holds the shadows in place a little *too* well!

It also makes a great glitter fix.  Pat over eyeshadow and glitter away!

True, true. If you’re wearing glitter, those primers / bases like Silk Naturals’ Stick ‘Em and Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy are aces.

I think my favourite shade has to be Whirl. You know what I’m like with my blues/teals!

Whirl is pretty! So are Nuit and Plume, though Nuit’s a little brighter than I expected it would be.

And my favourite product. Hmm, hard to pick between Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy and Black Radiance Shine Control Primer. Both are awesome and I use them pretty much every time I wear make up.

I almost feel like a loner for not loving Pixie Epoxy…then again, I don’t love the Revlon Lip Butters which it seems everyone else does, so I have an established history of being different.

I really like the looks of Whirl!

Whirl is pretty! It almost reminds me of Aqua Nightmare, from Aromaleigh v1’s Gothic Lolita collection…

Hmmm it’s like Sophie’s Choice when it comes to picking my favorite makeup product now, maybe my Inglot Brow Powder (I’ve really been into my brows!)

    • LiAnn's avatarLiAnn Visit LiAnn's web siteFollow LiAnn on TwitterFollow LiAnn on Facebook :: 2012-07-08

I haven’t used too many Inglot products - mostly just a few nail polishes - but I just ordered MUFE’s Brow Gel. I’ve been using brow powder and clear gel for a long time, I think I’m starting to get lazy..!

Beauty Tip

Put your mascara in your pocket for 10 minutes before applying...especially in cold weather! It warms the mascara and lets it apply more easily.
