BareMinerals’ Buxom Armed and Gorgeous kit

Phyrra had great things to say about these smokey eye pencils, so I tried one out. Then this set came out for the holidays, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to get six colors - including three metallics! These pencils have pros and cons (as does every product.) They’re not as soft as the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils, so I feel like I have to be a little more careful when applying them to avoid pulling at my lid. They’re more expensive per pencil (and per ounce of product), even when compared to other prestige brands like Urban Decay. And currently, there’s only a small selection of colors. However…they’re waterproof, they stay in place very well, and they can be smudged and blended relatively easily right after initial application.

This collection contained:

  • Smokin' Pistol & Switchblade — smokey coal creme / smokey metallic indigo shimmer
  • Two by Four & Torch — smokey black-brown creme / smokey metallic brass shimmer
  • 5" Stiletto & Slingshot — smokey plum creme / smokey metallic chrome shimmer
  • Smoky Eye Brush
  • Sharpener

I like getting six colors for the price of 1.5 pencils at retail value. I don't love how the sharpener is loose, so it can easily get lost. (In fact, I think that's exactly what mine did...so it's a good thing I have two other full-size pencils with their sharpeners firmly in the base of the pencils.) The metallics applied a little unevenly, compared to the cremes. Hopefully Shiseido/Bare Escentuals/Buxom will work on that formula...and hopefully this collection will be available for a while, instead of disappearing in this spring.
