BareMinerals’ Buxom Babes Winter Escapade kit

Right off the bat, you should know: I have a deep and abiding love for the sheer buxoms (and for a few of the full-color ones). This is saying something, since before I encountered the buxom lip polishes I rarely wore any lip color. So nearly any buxom lip item, color, or kit will get my attention and careful consideration, if not a purchase. I was eager to see these as soon as I heard about the release, and I’m glad I got them a month before their general release - to give me more time to play with them!

BareMinerals’ Buxom Babes Winter Escapade kit

This kit contained:

  • Holly — sheer holiday-poinsetta red with cool iridescent diamond sparkle
  • Hope — white/clear with cool iridescent diamond sparkle
  • Joy — sheer soft champagne golden with cool iridescent diamond sparkle
  • Merry — sheer gingerbread tan with cool iridescent diamond sparkle

I was fortunate enough to get this during the manufacturer's 1-day holiday preview sale where, a month before they were released, items were made available for one day. I was pretty sure I'd get this kit when I first heard of it - but hadn't seen a picture - because of two things: 1) it was a holiday buxom kit, which meant that it would probably be sheer and sparkly; and 2) I like having mini buxoms. Not just because they're more easily portable; but because I can have more colors and will actually have a better chance of using them all. When I saw a picture of the kit, I was sure that I would purchase it, but wasn't sure that I would get much use from one of the colors. When it arrived, I thought pretty much the same thing: I can see myself using A, B, and D, but not so much C. Imagine my surprise when, late one night (yea and verily, insomnia sucketh) I was playing around with my makeup and found a great combination that let me wear a lip stick I had previously put aside as "rarely wearable" and the buxom that I was sure I wouldn't use!!

Note, December 2010: while thumbing through the QVC's BE winter 2010 catalog, I notice that they've got a few additional buxoms in full size. Zena, nice, about time that happened...Pixie, okay, another pink...and Hope. Of all four buxoms from this particular collection, the one they decide to bring back full size is not the rich red Holly, not the odd-but-magical Joy, not the warm brown Merry...but another freaking white-iridescent. So very similar to Dominique, which not a whole lot of people love (though the other diamond buxoms, the ones with some color, do get love.) Words fail me. They honestly do.
