This was one of the first Buxom lip sticks. I looked over the starting lineup (Barcelona, Berlin, Brooklyn, Milan, Las Vegas, Monte Carlo) and thought to myself: well, I can already guess that I won't like Berlin or Milan because they're warmer peaches. Brooklyn looks a bit dark, so that's probably another color I can safely avoid. Besides - that description? Fig? BE's Ripe Fig lipstick doesn't look good on me, so this Brooklyn probably won't work with my coloring, either.

What can I say? I was wrong.

I put my lack of enthusiasm on BE's description-writers. “Harvest fig” sounds like a browned or dusty purple-ish, which is now their Ripe Fig lipstick is described. The color-pictures on Sephora's website are nice, they give you suggestions (guidelines, really) but don't always really match up with what the color actually looks like. One day I finally swatched the tester and liked what I saw. And I only passed this by about five times before I tried it out.
