Beauty Blogs’ Backstage for November: Interviewing Louise of Get Lippie

Beauty Blogs’ Backstage for November: Interviewing Louise of Get Lippie

Posted on Tuesday, at

This month for Beauty Blogs Backstage, I got to interview Louise of Get Lippie. Louise has had a love affair with makeup ever since she was a smallhuman! She's been doing makeovers since she was a teen, and she celebrated her one-year blogiversary in September. Louise's partner Matt occasionally contributes to Get Lippie, reviewing men's products. Read my interview with Louise below (and please excuse this lame introduction, I'm running on no coffee right now. I'll write something wittier later,...

This color definitely needs two coats before it's opaque - in any way, shape, or form. It's watery, like Ki; but two coats gives you opacity and three coats (thin coats, but three of them) gives you a gorgeous blackened green shimmer. One coat will get you a thin dark-emerald wash of color. Two coats, and you'll start to see what this will be when it's applied. Three coats…et...

Still feeling a bit ill, but not as poorly as I was over Thanksgiving. Today for breakfast I had pumpkin pie and coffee, which is of dubious nutritional value but excellent taste value. :D This look is part of the One Year Eyecolor Challenge (new colors used: 5) and Dance Monkey Mondays (colors Pinot Noir and Swing Set chosen by member Galen). Want to see a certain color combination? Just register, leave your colors (up to three) in the comments on...

Aromaleigh v1’s Drama Teal

Aromaleigh v1’s Drama Teal

I originally got this because I thought it might - MIGHT - be a halfway-decent substitute for Loretha, which I missed out on. Turns out…they're kind of similar. Loretha has more teal pigmentation and less of the blackening; but Drama Teal doesn't have a whole lot of sootiness - which is a very nice relief! This particular shade will definitely work well as a liner color, but probably not as anything else unless I become very adept at lighthanded...

It looks so very unassuming…and maybe it's because the color is a pale-milk-chocolate brown, but the faint “metallic” finish really shows up on this color. Two coats and I felt a burning need to rip open a bag of Christmas candy. (Fortunately for me - and my waistline - there wasn't any in the house.) Even with a single coat it was a bit too dark to be truly a “mannequin-hands” color. One coat was still not fully opaque,...

Emerging from my cave with a quick news roundup

Emerging from my cave with a quick news roundup

I received my Meow samples yesterday, so I'll be happily swatching the day away (and making composite-pro photos for various kits and collections), but before I disappeared again, I wanted to remind folks of some endings, some beginnings, and some up-and-comings.

BareMinerals’ Bauble

A pretty enough purple - similar-ish to Berry Flambe from last year's holiday kit Sweet Obsessions. It's lighter in terms of pigmentation, but not as whisper-faint as Berry Flambe. If you love purples, you'll like this one. If you think purples are okay, but not something you'll go to any lengths to acquire…this color's okay. I wouldn't buy this kit just so you can get this color, though.

Benefit Cosmetics’ Plum-ing for Gold cream shadow

Benefit Cosmetics’ Plum-ing for Gold cream shadow

With “Plum” in the title, you might expect this to be a purple. Well…perhaps it is to others, but to me it's a lovely maroon. This is actually the color I'd hoped MAC's Artifact would be, but isn't quite - so I'm very happy!!
