BareMinerals’ Laura Does London kit

Originally I wasn’t going to buy this collection, for two reasons: 1) I am not overly fond of the “(name) does (city)” convention, because it sounds too consciously like it’s trying to sell an image of “Aren’t I a naughty girl!!”; and 2) a pale pink lip stick and a fuschia lip gloss didn’t really appeal to me, even at the price of $26 which is $12 less than the standalone costs of one fullsize gloss and lip stick. However, when I finally did buy it, I bought it because the kit had been reduced in price to $20, and I had a Sephora VIB coupon for 20% off. So…I ended up paying $16. For less than the price of one fullsize gloss or lip stick, I got one of each. Not too shabby.

BareMinerals’ Laura Does London kit

This kit contained:

  • Laura — fuchsia pink sheen
  • London — pale ballet pink creme

Laura is a fuchsia, all right...but it's rarer among buxom glosses in that it has no shimmer. A few other colors have no shimmer - Betty, Bunny, Eva, Lana, Krystal - but most have some sort of shimmer, even if it's faint.

London is a straightforward enough pink...and it's utterly neutral. Unlike Amsterdam, which is a warm pink, or Vienna, which is a subtly cool pink, London is utterly neutral. It's also nearly colorless on me - not "my lips but better", not "mannequin", the ultimate and utter "baby" / ballet pink.
