BareMinerals’ Magnificent Pearl

I've mentioned before that when I saw previews of the colors in this kit, I was not thrilled. Oh, joy, more browns. This one is definitely a brown, but it's a brown that applies very dark and really rich, with good color payoff and decent adhesion. It's a dark chocolate brown, about as dark as…well, as dark chocolate. It doesn't have any blackening leave-behind, though, so this can be used as an accent shade without worrying about it overwhelming the other colors. I don't know if it could be used in a smokey eye look, because this color isn't smokey or softened at all.

In some ways, it reminds me a little bit of Lucky Penny, from last year's Leslie's Three Wishes kit. This has a similar color payoff, but less of the warmth and coppery tones that Lucky Penny had.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

A montage of three images: top left, close-up of the eyeshadow in the pot; top right, the eyeshadow mixed with water and applied to bare skin; bottom left, the eyeshadow applied dry over primer.
