NOTE 03/25/2013: I will no longer be purchasing or reviewing any new China Glaze products, aside from the two that I have in the publishing queue. All previously-published posts will remain up. Info & links of interest
The duochrome in this is rather faint - a bit like the reverse of Sally Hansen's Scarab, from their duochrome collection released earlier this year. The duochrome in this isn't quite as faint as a few of the other colors in the New Bohemian collection, but it's on the less noticeable side.
This polish applies fairly well, and has better coverage than the others in this collection. It only took two coats for full, solid, even coverage. The metallic finish is nice enough, too…but China Glaze's theme this year seems to be “create a hot-trend polish, minimize the effects to save money on the materials, and put a metallic finish on the polish to distract from the fact.” The same thing's happening with their HoloGlam collection, with liner holos whose effects aren't as fronted as the OMG polishes, nor the linear-holographics from either Speciallita or Color Club.
I think this polish will work interestingly for some of the fine-line full-nail stamping art. It’s thick enough to be easily usable, and the duochrome effects will be more striking in that kind of a setup, whereas where it’s on the whole nail it’s just a little bit too subtle for my preferences.
