CND’s Vinylux Mystic Slate (258)

I liked this color the instant I saw it in the promo photos! It’s a greyed blue that, to me, looks like a color you might find in someone’s beach house. A solid color, clear, and aged rather than worn down. The color is darker than the bottle suggests. (Has CND started painting the inside of their bottles, rather than just allowing the polish to show through?) I can see this looking really great in nail art, but for me it’s a great transitional standalone color. I got a decent-coverage manicure with one coat, but it really does look best with two.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

Like the other Glacial Illusion polishes, the brush was shaped: it was flattened a bit, and the corners were trimmed. This made it a lot easier to apply and get as close as possible to the very edge of the nail bed, without getting a whole lot of polish all over my cuticles.
