CoverGirl’s Exhibitionist Waterproof Mascara

This is a profoundly okay mascara. It applies without clumping, it doesn’t flake off during the first six hours of the day, it’s not wet enough to get all over my hooded eyelids if I dare to open my eyes before a full minute has passed, and the brush doesn’t poke me in the eye. It also has a waterproof formula, which means that I don’t end up looking raccoon-like after an hour or two, which happens whenever I try to wear almost any washable (non-waterproof) mascara.

Let’s look at those qualifications again.

Doesn’t clump. Lasts as long as a waterproof mascara should last. Cures in about the average time for mascaras that I’ve used. The brush isn’t awkward or painful to use.

I don’t know about you, but for me, that’s the bare minimum for any waterproof mascara.

It doesn’t provide extra length, it doesn’t volumize, it provides minimal definition. This mascara doesn’t have any outstanding drawbacks for me, but there’s nothing about it that makes me want to reach for this tube specifically. (Once I applied it for this initial testing and wore the mascara for a day, this mascara tube went directly into my travel bag, which I haven’t used since February. I’m hoping to get to use it again this November, but probably won’t because Covid + dumbasses = third wave of virusy stuff. Wear a mask, people. I would like to be able to visit my immune-compromised mother and give her a hug without worrying that I’ll be responsible for her death. I know, silly old me. [Bright blue fuck-all, this is such a tangent.])

Anyhoo…

This is not the worst drugstore mascara I’ve worked with. It isn’t even the worst that I’ve used from CoverGirl. It’s just utterly average.
