Buxom’s Plumpline in Espionage

Buxom’s Plumpline in Espionage

I like this lineup - the pencils work equally well as a lip liner or a full lip color. (I just wish that there was a wider color range! I’d love to see deeper reds, lighter purples, deeper pinks/roses, and more cool browns.) This berry-red grabbed my attention. It’s a fantastic color for me, it goes well with my coloring and with most other things I’d choose to wear, and it has the standard Plumpline ease...

Color Club’s Nothing But A Smile

Color Club’s Nothing But A Smile

Tan polishes can be tricky for me. If they lean too warm, it makes my fingers look -=very=- red. If it’s too beige or ashy, it looks like dirt from a playground baseball diamond instead of a coat of nail polish. This one hits the right spot, color-wise: it’s truly tan without being too strongly yellow, and it looks clear and…well, “bright” isn’t exactly the right word, but that’s the only one I...

This is a lovely, glowy orange-red. It’s a little closer to orange, and there’s a tiny bit of depth to it so that it doesn’t look like a candy-red-orange shade. The polish applies a little uneven on the first coat, but it evens out and provides full coverage with the second coat. I still see a little bit of VNL even with two coats; but it’s not a semisheer polish.

Ningbo Starcolor Industry’s Crystal Handle 10-piece Makeup Brush kits

Private-label makeup brushes with synthetic bristles and plastic crystal-shaped handles that are commonly available in sets of 10. These are available on ^maz*n and 3b^y under many different brand names: Kingtree, Luxstyle, Tenmon. (Tammi Clarke also just released her own private-label makeup brushes...and these are they. She includes iridescent makeup bags with each set, and her store name is embossed on the ferrules.) There are two ten-piece sets: one with four face brushes and six eye brushes; and...

Notoriously Morbid’s Slay Me collection

Fifty-one matte eyeshadows named after Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I haven’t bought every matte in this collection, and with 51 colors I likely won’t buy them all. There’s a fairly decent variety of shades, and both the lighter and darker ends of the spectrum are present. Several of the pink-reds are a bit more similar than the vendor photos suggest, though; and I noticed a handful of shades that had an odd whitish layer when swatched wet. My...

L’Oréal’s Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Liquid Diamond (996)

L’Oréal’s Infallible 24HR Eye Shadow in Liquid Diamond (996)

Medium-light silver that is a little chunky, like many of these 24HR Eye Shadows. It applies nicely, but doesn’t always blend too well - I’ve had better luck blending colors into and on top of it, than blending this into other colors. The coverage is very good, and it can be applied lighter if you have a brush that can pick up a smaller amount of product. (Most of the blending brushes aren’t dense enough - they...

Silk Naturals’ Leaf

A coolish medium olive with good coverage and excellent blendability. It reminds me of the “green” leaves you see in autumn decorations, alongside rusty orange and harvest yellow. Aromaleigh’s Gilded Jealousy is a warm version of this shade.

Milani Cosmetics’ Universal Kabuki Fan Brush

Milani Cosmetics’ Universal Kabuki Fan Brush

Posted on Sunday, at

I saw this on Milani’s website, and decided to give it a try. I knew that the Ludicrous Lights highlighters needed to be applied with a thinner brush, and I’d seen a few people using fan brushes to apply a very delicate line, so I bought one. The brush is soft, dense, and…not totally thin. It’s like a blush brush was made a little thinner and then put into a 180 degree arc. The brush is thicker...

HoneyBunny Lacquer’s I Put a Spell On You

This is a thermal polish…really. You wouldn’t know it to look at it, though. It’s a deep navy when cool, and a medium-deep bronze when warm. I don’t see much of the bronze even when I run cold water over my fingertips. Maybe I just got an older bottle, and the thermal reaction isn’t happening any more; or maybe with the shorter nails I had when I had this manicure, the change isn’t as...
