When I first saw these in spring 2020, I was on the fence. I’d only ever heard that elf’s eyeshadows were not fantastic quality - or, more precisely, their eyeshadow palettes were not worth the purchase because the shadow quality was lesser than even other drugstore palettes; and if I were going to spend money on a larger palette I should at least get one where half of the shadows would have good pigmentation and decent longevity. I finally decided to try the green palette, because I had relatively few of the deeper olive- and browned-greens; and Carnival Candy, because it looked like the only palette that was a more complex self-contained look (and because I thought that the medium-deep red-brown was more of a red color.)
The eyeshadows swatch quite nicely - no need to layer to get full opacity, and they stay blendable for a few minutes after application. There isn't a lot of longevity without a hold-fast primer or a fixative, though. The two palettes that I got are a mix of matte and shimmer finishes, and even though Carnival Candy has a warm brown rather than my hoped-for red, both it and Hot Jalapeño can produce complete and varied eye looks on their own.
