Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.

EoTD: The Tarot - the Tower

The Tower is the fifteenth card in the Major Arcana. The card signifies major sudden changes, abrupt release of tensions, flashes of insight, disillusionment, and tearing down of old beliefs. Colors associated with this card are scarlet, pure red, venetian red, and green-red.

Part of the One Year Eyecolor Challenge (new colors used: 5)

Scarlet, red, venetian red, and green-red...okay. I had to go look up what "venetian red" was so that I could try and match it. Even though this look is mostly reds (two vibrant reds, one pink, one black-red, and one medium-light brown) it looks good, and wearable - proof that all-red eyeshadow looks are not reserved for 80s cover band leads or uber punk emo folks.

When I found the green-red color correspondence, my immediate thought was Twinkling Lights from Aromaleigh - a nice bright green with red iridescence. Problem there was that I wouldn't have any lighter colors in the look at all, just a bunch of brights and bolds screaming for attention. I looked through my pinks and found one with a green flash...and there we go, "green-red". I used UDPP as the primer (rather than one of my more usual paint pots or cream shadows) because I wanted some hold without any tint or color to it.

Eyes

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion, lash to crease
  • TSS' Lying Mirrors, dry, outer crease
  • Pure Luxe's Berry, dry, outer lid
  • Simply Naturals' Sincerely Donna, dry, lash to brow
  • Bare Escentuals' Kudos, dry, inner corner
  • TKB Trading's Blackstar Red, dry, upper and lower lash line

I put a thin line of Lying Mirrors in my outer crease, then patted Berry next to it and brushed Berry right over the top of that thin line - LM was used like an underpainting. Sincerely Donna added color without demanding too much attention, while tucking Kudos into the inner corner gave a little bit of shading without detracting from the color-war going on at the outer eyelid. Blackstar Red did a nice job of lining without being too strong - all these reds were strong enough, any liner used had to be stronger than a suggestion, but not a harsh statement.
