A lot of people seemed to think that having neutral Color Tattoos would be kind of silly. After all, there are lots of neutral or near-neutral cream shadows offered by just about every other brand, so what's the point?
The point is…the Color Tattoos are inexpensive. They're very easy to get ahold of, since they're sold in drugstores rather than in makeup boutiques like Sephora or behind department-store makeup counters. And this beige-gold shimmer is a gorgeous color, a nice complement to both the NYFW palette and to the overall Color Tattoo palette.
Barely Beige has a bright beige base with faint pink tones, and a gold frost finish. It catches and refracts the light very nicely, brightening my eyes. It is one of those amazing chameleon-like colors: wear mostly warm tones, the gold is more obvious. Wear mostly cool tones, and the pink undertones are more visible. This color is excellent for under-eye lining, both for this color itself and for providing a bright base for the liner color of your choice. It gives you the brightening advantages of using a white eyeliner without the extreme visual contrast that you can get when using opaqua white shadows or liners around your eye.
One of the things I don't love about these NYFW Color Tattoos, though, is the finish. It's halfway between a shimmer and a frost. It seems that these Color Tattoos have the same problem that MAC's paint pots have: they're gorgeous, but the frost-finish ones don't apply as smoothly or easily as the creme or shimmer finishes.
