I like that Maybelline has this alternate line of lip liners - twist-up instead of pencil. I also like that they included a clear one, for people who want to apply anti-feathering countermeasures. I do wish that they’d had more matches, and better matches, for their Loaded Bolds lip shades because for some of those, I really felt like I wanted a good thick lip liner to help with the unevenness along the edges. (The purples, in particular, which I love…but which don’t have many liner options anywhere.)
My least-favorite attribute of these twist-up lip liners is that they tend to dry out faster. I bought a few that, even though they were sealed, had dried and hardened and were near impossible to use. (I didn’t want to take the risk of nuking them because if there were any metal parts that had exposed edges, BOOM there’s at least one more household expense I have to deal with.) I think that’s an issue with these narrow-stick liners from just about anywhere: the formula needs to be firm enough to hold something resembling an edge, but soft enough to apply smoothly; and the packaging has to be sealed enough that it keeps the formula from drying out but it isn’t impossible to open.
