Meow Cosmetics’ Sardonic

If I didn't already own this color, I would go and get it. Immediately. In the vendor depiction it isn't easy to tell what color this is - it looks like a light-ish navy - so let me tell you: it's like darker-colored lapis lazuli. It's not the bright blue that is most often seen in lapis, but the deeper blue. This shadow has excellent color payoff, but when I wiped my arm to remove the swatch it left behind a very slight discoloration that came off with a second pass of the makeup remover. (Many blackened eyeshadows also take more work to remove. And this color's “leave behind” was a very pale echo of the blue, not a blackening. And it didn't stain my skin, it just took a little more work to remove.)

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

A montage of three images: top left, close-up of the eyeshadow in the pot; top right, the eyeshadow mixed with water and applied to bare skin; bottom left, the eyeshadow applied dry over primer.

This is an excellent color for folks who want blue eyeshadow that isn't deep navy, but don't want to get anywhere near the edges of Mimi Bobek blues for fear of misjudging and getting something that's too bright or too intense. This color won't necessarily work for a traditional “smokey eye” - it's deep, but it isn't smokey - but would work as a liner shade with no worries.
