Meow Cosmetics’ X collection

I love that Meow re-releases previous years’ seasonal collections each holiday! I also love that they keep adding more! The Friday the 13th collection, released for Halloween 2009, purported to have a lot of duochromes…but I found the duochrome quotient a little lacking. This collection, along with Zombie Apocalypse, seems to have gotten the duochrome formula locked down fairly nicely - or perhaps it’s just that the word ‘duochrome’ is being bandied about less freely, and only applied to the true duochrome shades? I don’t know, but either way, it makes me feel more confident about Meow’s color descriptions.

Meow Cosmetics’ X collection

In 2016, Meow added five more shades to commemorate the 2016 miniseries (which began airing on my birthday, yay!)

This collection contained:

  • Believe (added in 2016)
  • Boogie Man — metallic green with blue and gold shimmer
  • Chupacabra — smokey purple shimmer
  • Deceive (added in 2016)
  • Grim Reaper — blackened maroon with red iridescent shimmer
  • Hidebehind — pewter grey with blue shimmer
  • Inveigle (added in 2016)
  • Jersey Devil — cool iridescent red shimmer
  • Kraken — iridescent navy shimmer
  • Mothman — medium taupe with green duochrome shimmer
  • Nessie — teal-blue iridescent shimmer
  • Obfuscate (added in 2016)
  • Sasquatch — metallic gilded forest green shimmer
  • Snipe — plum-red duochrome shimmer
  • Trust No 1 (added in 2016)
  • Wampus Cat — metallic golden olive shimmer
  • Wendigo — metallic teal shimmer
  • Yeti — medium muted cyan with green iridescent shimmer

Mothman looks similar to Aromaleigh v1's Tracy, from their Fall Tapestry collection - but Mothman has a little bit of a lighter base, and a less blued duochrome effect. I love it that so many taupe-based duochromes are coming out this season! I have a mildly annoying tendency to gravitate toward any really attractive taupe shades, which means that I have way too many of them...so these duochrome effects will just make those taupes different from the others I've got in my collection.
