Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.

News, Thoughts, Upcoming Giveaways

More Sephora-y Goodness (or, They've Swallowed My Soul)

I did it, kids. I placed another Sephora F&F order. Yesterday I pulled the trigger on Benefit Cosmetics' Femme Metal kit, and another professional-size tube of UDPP. I know. I'm weak. But...20% off, and free shipping (because the order topped $50, even with the F&F discount.) Glamour Puss is going to have another box to play with in about a week. I took photos of my first Sephora F&F order, but also of Glamour Puss with the box. He had almost as much fun with that packing paper and the box as I did with its contents. I've posted three other photos of him to Twitpic.

Giveaways!!

Over the next few months, I'll be having at least four giveaways. One will be international-only, and I'll be including products you can't really get easily outside the US (that includes some Aromaleigh stuff; because even though she did reopen international shipping, it was at a time when most of the stuff that people really wanted...was gone. And I also think that not a lot of people heard about it. So.) To be eligible for any of the giveaways, though, you have to satisfy at least two criteria: you have to be a registered member on this site for at least 30 days before the giveaway starts; and you have to be active sometime in the 30 days before the giveaway starts. (at least one comment and one rating.) This rewards people who keep coming back to visit, but it also means that the folks who get rewarded are the active folks. The more active you are, the better your chances. So if you want to be considered for the first giveaway, which will start on December 1...sign up for the site!

Dance, Monkey, Dance!! You choose my eyeshadow colors for Mondays

I'm taking a wee tiny detour from my One-Year Eyecolor Challenge, for a few reasons: I've had two very busy months; I bought nearly 400 more eyeshadows since I started the project; I got through over 1000 colors and I'm starting to run out of steam; and I want to do something to increase interaction around here. I sometimes feel like I'm in an echo chamber :D

You can choose any colors that I have in my inventory, and every Monday I'll wear a "members' choice" eyeshadow combination. (All but my newest colors are listed - I'll have the page updated later today.) Choose a color that I haven't worn yet, or one I've already worn...your choice. You can name up to three colors that I've got to combine in a look somehow - so choose one, two, or three colors. Pick colors that you've always wanted to see used together, or colors that you think can't possibly be used well in combination - then post your choices in the comment section of this post. For my part:

  • the looks will not be single-color looks
  • I can use the color(s) however I choose, in any placement: center lid, outer lid, brow highlighter, inner vee, liner, whatever
  • the looks may be bolder/brighter, but they will probably be softer

I'm a telecommuter, so I don't have to worry about "workplace appropriate" looks; but I'm less inclined to regularly wear the vibrant festivals of color that you'll often see on folks Phyrra or Ana or Blix. It's a personal-preference thing. (All the rooms in my house are white and I like them that way. This drives my muralist-mother utterly insane. I see lovely, bright, clean white walls...and she sees a canvas going unused. This is why I waited until I lived 1,000 miles away to buy a house: because otherwise, She Would Come Decorate.) So if you want to see if I can pull off chartreuse-green and neon orange eyeshadow paired with something purple...go for it. Just realize that it may be softer than you might expect. On the upside, it then may be something you can duplicate, even if you do have to keep workplace guidelines in mind.

Upcoming Posts

I had a schedule all planned out. I've got posts written, photos taken, the calendar stretching out through February 2011, different topics for every day...but I've got Shiro's latest collection to write up, my latest 6 buxoms, the China Glaze holiday colors, the colors from All Wrapped Up...are you beginning to see my dilemna? So I'm taking a page from Discovery Channel. Only instead of Shark Week, you get Shiro Week (Nov 1-6), Buxom Week (Nov 8-13), China Glaze week (Nov 15-20), and then All Wrapped Up week (Nov 22-27). That will take me neatly through November, get all the newness showcased, and THEN let me settle down to my lovely schedule. I promise that while I've made up the schedule, I have not lovingly colored it in with Prussian Blue. (Bonus points for whomever correctly places that reference.)
