Stila’s Waterproof Smudge Stick in Midnight Blue

I kind of expected…well, a darker, deeper blue. In the swatch, it looks a bit brighter. Fortunately, when applied in a thinner line, it doesn't look quite as intense. (But I still think I would have preferred a color with just a tiny bit more depth.)

On the upside, application is very easy and the color looks good, no thinner patches or tendency to clump or pill up. It smudges out nicely, provided you smudge the liner out almost as soon as you apply it, because the longer it's on the more it will cure and set into place.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

A montage of three images: top left, close-up of the eyeliner tube or pencil barrel; top right, the eyeliner applied over bare skin, to better show the shade and properties; and below, the eyeliner applied on the eyelid at the lash line.

This is very similar to Urban Decay's Sabbath eyeliner pencil. I was kind of hoping for a color more like Urban Decay's Ink, without the “this is a matte so it's really difficult to get color payoff” problem…but that was apparently not meant to be. Another upside is that since this is a stick rather than a pencil, you can potentially get more colorant-product out of this, than you can out of Urban Decay's Glide-On pencil.
