Shiro Cosmetics’ Aperature Laboratories

Shiro Cosmetics’ Aperature Laboratories

A near-white sparkle, not quite metallic but almost. Fully opaque, and just barely greyed - using this gets me my inner-vee and browbone highlights without looking quite so abrupt or over-the-top. (I personally like brighter whites as all-over shades or dramatic liners. They're often a bit too bright for highlighting.)

Beauty from the Earth’s Sorrow

When I got this color, I knew it reminded me of something…I just wasn't sure what. Once I swatched it, I almost instantly thought of Concrete Minerals' Wicked, as being something it's very simlar to. Turns out…Sorrow is very similar to another BFTE color that I fell in love with: Boysenberry. That color was limited-edition, and I don't know if it was limited-edition because one of the ingredients was discontinued or not - but I was extremely glad...

Very attractive near-neutral, with softer aqua iridescent highlights. I can see this becoming one of my daily-use shadows, easily! I've had success pairing this with cooler charcoal greys, or the more neutral taupes - but the instant I try to wear it with anything that's the slightest bit warm, it just looks like a cement-grey. Wear it with the right colors, and it nicely shadows without being overbearing/too dark/too blue.

I managed to get this shade before Persephone's temporary closure back in 2011. When they re-opened, Spirit Realm was added to the regular lineup.

Uneven coverage, doesn’t settle too well, and takes a long time to try - meaning that it’s the most prone to after-manicure dings and other screw-ups. And dammit, I had such hopes for this one!! I think I’ll just have to use this as a stamping polish - or try, at least. Maybe the thinness won’t be such a problem in medium- to small-width lines and shapes.

Not necessarily a thoroughly original shade, even for the CSM lineup. Batbano's finish is even similar to Blue My Mind - this color is perhaps a little bit brighter, but not by much. Both blues cover well, are fully opaque, and do not stain my nails or cuticles when I use a base coat.

Four eyeshadows: three new, one “back from the vault”, two of the new colors to be added to the regular lineup. The four colors were also available for individual purchase right from the get-go…which was nice for those folks who only wanted one or two shades, or those few diehards who already owned Peachy.

Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss collection

Kat Von D’s Studded Kiss collection

I was peripherally aware of this collection in the months and weeks leading up to its release, but it wasn’t until I started seeing swatches - and photos from other bloggers who I trusted - that I decided to purchase some of these. At $21, they’re among the pricier products in my collection. The tube is thicker than most, because of the studded design. The cap stays in place, and you won’t have problems digging around in your...
