Urban Decay’s 24-7 Eye Pencil in Electric

Many (okay, almost all) eyeliner collections contain a variant of this shade. I know that, as much as I love the color, it doesn't look all that great on me. So why do I keep buying it?

Urban Decay seems to have a 50% success rating with metallic-finish pencils, in that either the coverage is really solid, or it's a bit on the patchy side. Electric goes on easily enough, but not evenly. When I try to smudge this out, the product tends to all move, rather than truly smudging. It also is the exact same shade and finish as NYX's Electric Blue eye pencil, and as Sephora's Summer Cruise eyeliner pencil, both of which cost less than this one, unless you manage to get this in a kit.
