Wet n Wild’s Fantasy Makers paint palettes: Brights and Metallics

Last year I picked up the Metallics palette, but never got around to using it. This year I picked up a second Metallics, and a Brights. (The metallic-finish colors appealed to me more, which is why I picked one up last year.) This year I finally got around to swatching them both…and there’s a clear winner.

It ain’t the metallic palette.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

Three colors from the Brights palette: Pink, Orange, and Yellow. All are smooth cream-finishes with even coverage.

I still like the metallic-palette shades better. But the metallic paints don’t cover as easily or as evenly. You can see on the swatch photos that - at least when applied with a brush - they tend to be streaky. I put some on with a sponge, just to test, and it did cover better. The downside, of course, is that trying to do detail-work with any of the metallic shades would be somewhat tricky.

The Brights palette colors all apply evenly, don’t come up when you go back over them, and are very saturated. My only complaint about them is the same complaint about all of these palettes, to varying degrees: the color takes time to fully cure, and I can’t seem to successfully set them using Blue Marble Selr (which I use on my makeup whenever I wear more than just my BB cream.)
