Zoya’s Envy

This is pretty much Suvi, without the metallic…so the color looks darker, even though it probably isn't. (It's just not reflecting or refracting any light.) This color almost looks like something I might describe as “a dark moss-green”. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and we know our moss around here, and moss does not often come in this color. Moss is lighter green. Even when it's older, it's a dustier green, but it's not this dark. So why do I want to call it a “mossy” green? I have no clue. None whatsoever.

One coat did not give me anywhere near full opacity. It was thin, transparent, and streaky - but with slightly more pigmentation than Ki or Suvi (both dark-toned metallics from Zoya). I don't know if there was slightly more coverage in a single coat because this was a creme while the other two are metallics, or because I applied more, or because Mercury was in retrograde or something. Two coats did give me full opacity, though. Three didn't change the color depth at all - it just put more polish on my nails.

It's a nice enough color, and if you like dark greens you should check it out. I don't know that this will be a fast favorite of mine, though. I prefer something with a bit more luminosity. I also admit: greens and I do not have the cosiest relationship. I had to consciously make an effort to expand my green eyeshadows and my green nail polishes, and carefully hunt for colors that would work well for me. That may be a factor in my lack of love for this particular shade. Whether you love greens, or only like them kinda-sorta, Envy will make a very striking background-mani color for nail art. (I'm also imagining this as the background for a white-gradient nail art with some red nail stamping…hey, now, there's a Yuletide manicure idea. Maybe I'll try that…)
