Zoya’s Fall 2012 Pixie Dust collection

The first “pixie dust” collection released from Zoya. I am not a huge fan of these textured polishes - they can be a nice change up, but the manicures always end up looking a bit chunky. And the manicures are always a bit trickier: I either have to coat my cuticles with vaseline, to make post-mani cleanup easier, or I have to be extra careful when removing the over-applied textured polish from the skin around my nailbeds.

The colors for this were a nice mix: greyed tones, one vivid red for the rampant traditionalists. Some of the colors needed more coats for full opacity - Zoya must have gotten this complaint quite a bit, because the following collections all contained brighter colors that, if they didn’t give better coverage than the first collection, at least it wasn’t as noticeable.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

This collection contained:

  • Chyna — textured deep red matte sparkle
  • Dahlia — textured black matte sparkle
  • Godiva — textured gilded cream matte sparkle
  • London — textured medium-light grey matte sparkle
  • Nyx — textured muted light blue matte sparkle
  • Vespa — textured muted light green matte sparkle
