Zoya got into the matte nail color trend with these two Matte Velvet collections - which were discontinued less than a year later. (Though to be fair, these collections were both marketed as limited edition - something that Zoya rarely does.)
This collection contained:
Reaction to the matte polishes varied. They were not formulated to be used over a base coat (or, at least, not over a completely dry base coat) and when people went through their usual manicure routine and the polish applied unevenly, they were fairly unthrilled. In addition, the matte polishes were not as durable as other Zoya polishes - and so left without a top coat, to get the visible matte effect, the polish was more prone to chips and dings. (I personally was never a fan of matte nails...and only bought the polishes I did when I saw them under a top coat.) Posh was discontinued in late fall 2012 - about a year after its release. Loredana was still available for purchase, but marked to be discontinued. Dovima was the only color from the Matte Velvet collections to be made part of the permanent line.
