Zoya’s Karina

A deep cool red, not a fuchsia-red like the professional bottle photo would suggest. I personally love this color, and don't know why it was removed from the Zoya lineup so quickly! I don't know that Zoya has another shimmer polish in this shade - that's the only reason I can think of for its removal, that it was too similar to something else already in Zoya's lineup. But they've released other colors that are near-dupes for something else in their line - similar base color, same finish, all that - so that doesn't seem to fit.

The polish applies very nicely. It doesn't appear to have a metallic or even a quasi-metallic finish, like Zoya's description suggested it might…but I've spoken previously about how Zoya seems to be rather generous in its definition of certain terms like ‘metallic', ‘duochrome', and ‘holographic.' This red reminds me of Christmas decorations! The internal sparkle just adds to the festive holiday appearance.

This color didn't last too long in Zoya's lineup. Released for winter 2011, it was gone by autumn 2013.
