I am only guessing here…but the Spa Essentials must have been among the first polishes Zoya released, and if they had a name or a grouping, it was only evident to the outside world when, during the site redesign of 2009, the company began listing the collection in which each color debuted. The Spa Essentials group is full of french-manicure colors, sheers and semisheers, and “nude” shades. There are a few duochrome colors, but both the base color and the duochrome effects are rather muted. I only have four colors from this “collection”, and while I like them, I don’t know that I’ll be getting any more colors from this grouping in the future (though I might, if I were more of a fan of french manicures). Most of the colors are just too sheer or too pale for my tastes. I’m guessing that this group makes a good “starting point” for any salon that wants to use or stock Zoya colors, though.
When I initially started buying from Zoya, I mentally toyed with buying Rose, Dharma, and some of the other quasi-duochromes for layering. I decided against it, though - when I want a duochrome, I want a stronger colorchange (like Ki, or the colors from the Reverie collection, or Nubar's duochromes).
