Sally Hansen’s Commander in Chic (290)

Sally Hansen’s Commander in Chic (290)

Taupe-brown, with good coverage and easy application. I haven't been able to compare this side-by-side against Zoya's Normani, but I'm betting they're fairly close. Unlike the other near-dupes from Sally Hansen's CSM line, Commander in Chic is fully opaque, and gave me full coverage with no VNL after two coats.

Released in Spring 2010, before I formally jumped on the Sleek Makeup bandwagon (courtesy of my pusher Sirvinya, who sent me the Storm and Paraguaya palettes as my “gateways”.) This palette was always limited edition, and was gone from stores by fall or winter 2011. I managed to pick mine up from...

According to the shop photos, this brown was supposed to have faint purple (not lavender, more like a soft violet) highlights at certain angles. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing them. This color is a solid performer, it applies just like it looks in the pot, the color payoff is good, it...

Another one of the “unblended mica” colors from BFTE - so it was possible to buy a bright yellow mica from a wholesaler and have much the same color, just no base mix. Although I mostly avoided buying the unblended micas and instead sticking with their other eyeshadows, I did...

This color is fairly soft, not pastel but lighter-weight. It's almost more brown than orange. The super-light color payoff means that it works best as a highlighter - and with the shimmer finish, might be a nice slightly-glam blend-out shade on deeper skintones.
