The second of Bare Escentuals’ collaborative kits with Honora Pearls, released for the 2010 year (other kits were Beautiful in Pearls in winter 2009, Vintage Pearls in summer 2010 and Modern Pearls in fall 2010.) The colors in these kits were infused with crushed pearls. Interestingly enough, though, this didn’t give the color items a pearl finish. Beginning with this kit, the eyeshadows were one color from the regular collection, and one new color exclusive to this kit.

BareMinerals’ Exotic Pearls kit

The pairing of a white color with Black Pearl isn’t one that I’d necessarily do. It reminds me a little bit too much of the “blandables”, where all the colors were fairly faintly-pigmented and the finished look sometimes was a bit lacking. Purple - even softer, dusty lilac like Black Pearl - does have more of a contrast with the off-white, but it’s still not what I would call *enough* contrast. In addition, Black Pearl was a previously-existing color and there were enough people who preferred to have new colors wherever possible in these kits, rather than a mixture of new and old (unless the old shade had been rotated out of existence.)

The corresponding blush is a very nice color, and the plum liner is of decent quality. The brushes were strictly “meh”, though - two previously-existing brushes, and not even two of the better ones from the lineup (in my opinion.)
