BareMinerals’ Vision in Velvet kit

This monster-kit was part of the 2012 holiday release, and was one of the few kits that still contained the loose-powder shadows exclusively. (More and more of the kits were made up of the Ready shadows and blushes this year…which meant that I was far less tempted, so yay for that much.) At its full price of $79 for 20 minis, these eyeshadows cost just under $4 a piece - which is a fairly good price. The color range is pretty thorough, too - warm, cool, and neutrals, without having an overwhelming number of browns or purples. (Not too many blues, but at least the one they have is fairly decent.) Overall, I’m more impressed with the performance of the satins than of the velvets. They have better color payoff and adhesion.

This kit contained:

  • Satin Caramel — medium red-gold brown satin
  • Satin Gold — medium-soft gold satin
  • Satin Lilac — pastel lilac-purple satin
  • Satin Mist — pale silvered green satin
  • Satin Nude — nude satin
  • Satin Peach — pale peach satin
  • Satin Plum — plum satin
  • Satin Rose — medium-deep rose satin
  • Satin Sage — muted dusty green satin
  • Satin Sterling — light pewter-grey satin
  • Velvet Blueberry — medium-light navy matte
  • Velvet Charcoal — charcoal matte
  • Velvet Espresso — espresso brown matte
  • Velvet Green — dusty medium-deep green matte
  • Velvet Mauve — mauve matte
  • Velvet Pistachio — crushed mint matte
  • Velvet Strawberry — soft wine matte
  • Velvet Taupe — matte taupe matte
  • Velvet Vanilla — warm ivory matte
  • Velvet Violet — medium-light soft lilac matte

Some stores had this kit for sale for $49.00 for Black Friday, and now that this kit is headed out, any stores that are still carrying it are also pricing it at $49 - so if you can find it, this is an excellent time to scoop up a really good value.

BareMinerals has released the velvets as a new line of loose-powder eyecolors (with two additions to the lineup, from what was in this kit.) I really hope that they release the satins as well, because in my opinion they perform better than the velvets.
