Meow Cosmetics’ Joys of Summer collection

This was another customer-named collection, with customers contributing their favorite “summer pleasures” on the company forum. I hadn’t been on the forum in quite a while, so wasn’t aware that they were holding a contest. (The name I contributed was chosen for last year’s “Simple Pleasures” collection.) I liked the looks of about half the shades, wasn’t too sure on the other half, and was interested in the blushes the instant I read that they were iridescent. I loved that quality about the Lost Rainforest blushes and glow powders! Canna is still one of my favorite blushes, though Anana and Heliconia (which I bought last year) are pretty close. Two of the blushes in the Joys of Summer collection are more sheer, so they might work better as layers over a bolder wash of matte color.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

Meow Cosmetics’ Joys of Summer collection

This collection contained:

  • A/C — medium light silvered blue shimmer
  • Azure Sky — teal-blue with lilac shimmer
  • Bare Legs — soft gilded copper shimmer
  • Beach Bonfire — copper-cinnamon shimmer
  • Beachcombing — semisheer pale silvered gold shimmer
  • Brazilian — coppery vanilla pearl
  • Cannonball!!! — medium-dark periwinkle blue shimmer
  • Cat Days of Summer — metallic olive-gold shimmer
  • Conch — medium gilded pink copper shimmer
  • Cricket Serenade — soft medium green sheen
  • Dragonfly — soft light green with blue-green sheen
  • Endless Nights — medium muted lilac shimmer
  • Flaming Marshmallows — dark brown copper shimmer
  • Heat Lightning — intense tangerine-gold shimmer
  • Heat Wave — gilded copper-berry shimmer
  • Iced Coffee — soft rosy tan pearl
  • Lazy Days — gilded mauved lilac shimmer
  • Lime in the Coconut — medium-light green-yellow shimmer
  • Marco Polo — lilac-periwinkle pearl
  • Midnight Sun — medium bright indigo pearl
  • Oasis — clear medium cool blue shimmer
  • Sea Glass — semisheer silvered aqua green shimmer
  • Skee Ball — gilded soft olive shimmer
  • Sleeping Naked — pale glowing gold pearl

Marco Polo has more depth than appears on the vendor's photo. It's not a deep dark periwinkle, I just don't see as much silvering as appears on the vendor photos. Iced Coffee and Conch are both neutrals-with-a-twist (a bit like Jamba Fruit Dove, from the Lost Rainforest collection.)

  • Chilled Cherry — sheer soft translucent pink iridescent shimmer
  • Frosted Berry — sheer cool palest mauve-pink iridescent shimmer
  • Frozen Grapefruit — sheer soft coral-peach iridescent shimmer
  • Iced Watermelon — sheer coral-pink iridescent shimmer
  • Solar Rhapsody — sheer light brown shimmer
  • Sun Worship — sheer light gold-brown shimmer

I have not ever really been fond of bronzers. I don't like how I look with a tan: since my hair is a light blond-brown, any kind of a tan makes me look a bit Cheshire-cat-like. My hair and face blend and merge, and all that's left are my eyes. The blushes, though...I love Iced Watermelon and Frosted Berry better than the other two. Frozen Grapefruit was a little too soft, and Frosted Berry has the cool tones that I prefer.
