Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure collection

I’ve written up the various limited-edition and seasonal collections, but not the core of the line. Now’s probably a good time to do that…not only because Sally Hansen appears to be adding half a dozen shades to the regular lineup, but because I own about half of the regular shades. I started buying these in 2010. They had a smallish core line, and some limited-edition collections, but the formula was not the best. The brush was great…but the polish itself was often watery, would apply unevenly and need three coats for full even coverage, and wouldn’t last much longer than other nail polishes before it would begin to chip. (I still have several of those polishes.) In late 2012 the entire line was reformulated, and these applied much better and lasted longer. Many were two-coat full coverage.

I currently own about half of the regular collection, and while I may get a few of the darker shades at some point, I’ll probably leave the semisheer and other french-manicure shades alone. Same with the large-particle glitters. They’re pretty enough, but they’re just not my particular favorites.

For quite a while, the limited-edition polishes were released without numbers. Then in Fall 2013, the limited-edition polishes had numbers in the 800s. In May 2014 seven shades were released, and the display read "new shades" while the individual polish-numbers were in the 300s, 400s, and 500s...inside the range of the "regular" polishes.
