Beauty from the Earth’s Grace

Beauty from the Earth’s Grace

This shade is brighter and bluer than I thought it would be, based on BFTE's product photo. (The swatch photo wasn't posted until I'd bought the color.) That said, it's a softened, almost faded shade that will look good on neutral and cooler skintones, but probably is too cool to...

Almost a bright color…but not. (Barely.) Also as a shimmer finish. (Barely.) I can use this as a spring or summer accent shade if I pair it with other primaries, but when I try and wear other similarly-bright colors it just looks too garish for my preferences.

Color Club’s Refresh-mint

Color Club’s Refresh-mint

Very, very bright. Almost neon levels of bright. Coverage is nicely even and opaque. This is not a color that I'll often wear on its own as a manicure because I tend not to prefer wearing neon-bright nail polishes, but it will look excellent stamped over darker shades.

Similar to Zoya's Flynn, but a bit lighter and without quite such a high-shine finish. It looks like it may be closer to Nyssa, from the Naturel(2) collection. The first coat was a little bit thin, but with the second coat I got full coverage.

Meow Cosmetics’ ScandalEyes: Meow Scandals collection

Meow Cosmetics’ ScandalEyes: Meow Scandals collection

Meow has some eyeshadows that it markets as “pearl”, and some that it markets as “sparkle.” These - all of the ScandalEyes shadows - are sparkle-bombs. Use primer and a sealant, or risk sparkly fallout. (A few are less rampantly sparkle-packed, but for the most part…be aware of what...

Concrete Minerals’ Peacock kit

Another of the “original” kits from Concrete Minerals, and the largest collection they sold until the Sugar Skulls collection was assembled. This was one of the first of the old-school kits to be discontinued, and was replaced by the Rainbow Brite color stack. There are a few differences between the...

TKB Trading’s Forged Gold

TKB Trading’s Forged Gold

When I swatch this, it looks pretty close to other metallic golds that I've tried from other collections…and, as with TKB's other Crucible colors, I can spot a few indie eyeshadows that probably use this as one of their main colorants. Just be aware that this is a mica...

Fyrinnae’s Fireside Interlude

Fyrinnae’s Fireside Interlude

This has an almost-metallic finish…and a tendency to want to apply unevenly. It's very frustrating! But when I can get it to apply evenly (both the deeper orange base color and the metallic-gold top layer) the color is a muted-metallic reddish gold. It's a bit tricky to find colors...

Meow Cosmetics’ Tutankhamen

Meow Cosmetics’ Tutankhamen

In the pot, it looks like a simple enough straightforward burgundy. Applied, you see hints of the gold…except when it's applied dry, for some reason, then the burgundy takes a back seat and the gold shimmer is very prominent, right on top, like a layer of gilding. (I have...
