Shiro Cosmetics’ It’s Been Fun

Shiro Cosmetics’ It’s Been Fun

This rosy neutral isn't quite as deep as it appears in the pot, but the color doesn't soften too much. The coverage is solid, with good even color payoff. This red looks good alongside either deeper warm or cool colors. I do wish that the finish either was more shimmery,...

Things That Make Me Happy: October 5, 2014

Things That Make Me Happy: October 5, 2014

So my grand glorious plan to do one of these ever week kind of fell flat. I had a good excuse, though! Kind of. My parents flew me down for a weekend (so, super-short trip.) I had a great time! We played games, Dad and I watched some movies, Mom...

A softer purple, a bit greyed - very autumnal, and a soft enough purple that people can wear it even if they normally would not wear this much purple on their lids. I think that it might not look as good with folks with very warm skintones, unfortunately, because of...

Cherry Culture’s Jumbo Shadow Liner in Spotlight

Cherry Culture’s Jumbo Shadow Liner in Spotlight

Softer “natural” color for medium-fair and lighter skintones. Works best on neutral-ish, though it may work on folks with warmer coloring. The application isn't my favorite - it's a bit light. It does give me a very subtle hint of color, though.

This was the other “exclusive shade” in Sephora's Ten Shades of Samba kit…and, well, it wasn't my favorite. The color could be interesting, and I'll bet it looks stunning as a “brightliner” on ladies with deeper warm skintones…but the coverage wasn't even. This pencil had similar issues as...

Doesn't provide much in the way of color…but then again, it isn't supposed to. It gives me a lightly pale pink, shimmery wash of all-over color. I like using this as a highlighter rather than an all-over face color: I apply a bit just under my brows, at the...

A very attractive shade, summery without being neon, warm but not so coral-toned that cool-toned people are utterly unable to wear it. It applies easily, and while the finish can wear off fast, there's a colorstain element so that even when you don't have the slight creme-look, the shade is...

Not a blinding bright white, but solid coverage and a very slight gritty-pearl/shimmer finish. It's a bit too pigmented to be useful as a brow highlighter, but it is slightly muted or “browned” so that the color looks a tad more elegant than “primary-white.”

Not a great “purple”, but a good near-neutral all-over shade. The purple definitely looks like bleached beachhouse paint - it's very soft, more like a cool grey with purple tones. The interference-shimmer shows up wet or dry, and keeps this from being useful for a blending shade…almost. (You'll just...

Concrete Minerals’ Bruise

Concrete Minerals’ Bruise

Almost a purplish-blue. Similar, in color depth, to MPZ's New Bruise (and this color would actually look good used along that and Old Bruise…) The coverage can sheer out just a little bit, and I'm less than thrilled with the wet application. The color tends to want to pill up,...
