TKB Trading’s Pop! Collection

TKB Trading’s Pop! Collection
  • Manufacturer: TKB Trading
  • Availability: from the webstore; discontinued in 2011. Mixed with a base and sold by: Simply Naturals as the Lollipop collection; Pure Luxe as Bubblegum ballz; many other indue MMU companies under varying names
  • Contains: seven bright sheen/pearl mineral colors
  • Cost/Amount: USD$9 for sample-size packets (one ounce) of all seven colors
  • Would you purchase again: yes

This collection was very popular for MMU companies of all sizes because of the bright primary colors. (I’ve listed two of its incarnations above - only two, because I’ve purchased other products from those companies and spotted the similarities.)

Until TKB Trading finds a replacement, you can get extremely similar colors from The Conservatorie’s Happy Hour collection.

BareMinerals’ Club Scene kit

BareMinerals’ Club Scene kit
  • Manufacturer: bareMinerals/Bare Escentuals
  • Availability: unknown - but not available as of 2007
  • Contains: three eyecolors
  • Cost/Amount: unknown
  • Would you purchase again: no
I'm going to assume that this kit was available through QVC. I'm unsure of the original release date - I don't have a premium Delphi membership and wasn't able to find the mention of the kit by manually trolling the forum archives at BEA. (If someone does know the original release date, can you let me know? Thanks.) I LOVE Hot Spot. Any color that morphs like Hot Spot does...put me down for several :D The three colors used together can give you an interesting look - makes me think of gogo dancers going for the "slightly less colorful" look. I don't love Retro quite so much, but Soho works very well with my eyes and doesn't really have too many near-dupes in the BE lineup.

  • Manufacturer: bareMinerals/Bare Escentuals
  • Availability: beginning December 2008 through QVC
  • Contains: three eyecolors and a brush
  • Cost/Amount: USD$34
  • Would you purchase again: no

The second in the “public eye / private eye” series of kits from QVC. These kits tended to be neutrals - while they weren’t my favorite shade combinations, they were a good way to get colors that weren’t otherwise available at the time.
