A nice neutral, despite the name :D I’ll have to dig out my sample of Aromaleigh v1’s Infernal Chaos and see how this color compares! Dry, this color’s a dullish medium mauve that doesn’t make me love it - though I’d imagine that it’s someone’s absolute perfect deeper dusty rose shade. The silvering’s really only visible when this color is applied wet.
Fyrinnae’s Freya
- Manufacturer: Fyrinnae
- Availability: part of the regular eyeshadow collection
- Color Range: dark purple with slight gold shimmer
- Staying Power: 4 out of 4 stars
- Cost/Amount: USD$5.90 for 3 grams

- Similar shades: Bare Escentuals' Brocade
Highly pigmented, with heavy color payoff, no matter how you apply it. I think that if you’re looking for a softer smoky-eye purple, this one might be a bit too much…but if you want a deeper, vampier purple or want a good liner shade, you’re all set.
I didn’t see a lot of sooty undertones or leave-behind when swatching this initially, so there’s another plus, especially for folks who want to steer clear of “blackened” shadows for one reason or another. This one’s just heavily pigmented. Bare Escentuals’ Brocade is similar, but is actually a bit less pigmented than Freya.

In the jar, this looks darker than it applies. I thought it was just a cool greenish pewter…which didn’t initially thrill me too much. The application shows the color far better than shots of just the shadow itself. Like all of BE’s High Shine colors, ditch the sponge applicator and use a regular eyeshadow brush - you’ll get less fallout. There is a slight difference in color payoff between dry and foiled application, but (in my opinion) not enough of a difference to actually need to foil this one.
