Color Club’s Sorry Not Sorry

Color Club’s Sorry Not Sorry

Many companies have tried to do the rose-to-gold shift, but…for whatever reason, there isn’t much “shift”. The color change is really only visible at the extreme edge of the nail, where the curve is strongest. The formula is decent, and the rose-gold color is a little more rose than gold but it’s an attractive shade.

I picked up Almost Quiet as one of my early purchases from Dawn Eyes. By the time I got around to sampling the rest of the collection, five of the original ten shades were gone…which isn’t surprising, considering the collection is over five years old!

The tanned-apricot shows up more when this is applied dry - any foiled application makes the gold interference show much more strongly. The interference color almost has some green tones to it. (If you love the way this one looks, though, you’re SOL, because Femme Fatale discontinued this color a while back.)

The color is more of a raisin-plum shade when applied dry. I don’t know why it doesn’t appear that way when foiled - I like it better with the brown undertones! - but it’s nice to have a color that has these kinds of effects. The shimmer is subtle, and is more of a multicolor-particle shimmer than light-reflecting.

This color is a little deeper than I thought it would be, and a little less cool. It still looks good on me, it’s just less of a fuchsia and more of a deep pink-rose.

This…is different. It’s tiny balls of concentrated pigment. Try to apply them dry, and…well, you can see how non-great that looks. You just get tiny grains of whatever spread over whatever surface you try to brush, sweep, or pat it on to. Add just a tiny bit of mixing medium, though, and you get a pretty bright luxurious slightly blue-leaning green.

The color pulls a bit…muddier than I expected from the professional artwork (which is, admittedly, often a bit off) and from the online swatches.  I was expecting a more neutral shade. There’s a little more yellow, and a little more grey, than I thought there might be. I can possibly use this as an accent or background color.

I was interested in this particular group because of the blue and green. They don’t seem to coordinate with the rest of the set to form some sort of unified palette; and I can get two trios out of these eyeshadows. I like each of these colors individually, but I generally use them with shades other than the ones in this grouping.

A lovely shade…with not a whole lot of color payoff. It just doesn’t want to stay put. It’s possible that with the right combination of primer and mixing medium, you’d be able to come close to the base shade. But just applying this by itself…I wasn’t impressed with the results. (Which stinks, because it’s a terrific shade!)
