When the Colour Book line first debuted, I was pretty sure I wanted this one along with the blue-and-green palette. Just like all the others in this line, this palette has 24 matte shadows and the same shadows in a shimmer finish. There are two very light shades in this palette, but they apply very easily…though in my opinion, the matte versions are a little easier to work with. There are some cool oranges and reds, but most are neutral or slightly warm-leaning (which makes sense - Makeup Revolution wants these palettes to have as broad an appeal as possible.)
My favorite shades in this palette are: Shimmer 3, Shimmer 5, Shimmer 8, Shimmer 13, Shimmer 16, Shimmer 18, Matte 25, Matte 26, Matte 28, Matte 29, and Matte 45. There aren’t any that I flat-out dislike, though I do wonder why Shimmer 3 shows up a wine-purple and its equivalent matte shade is more of a dark red-plum.
If you want to try just one of the Colour Book palettes, I’d say that your best bets are either this one or the blue-and-green book. Yes, the browns are perhaps more universal, and there look to be some good shades in it; but two of the columns are all very light or near-white shades, and those don’t traditionally do too well in any of Revolution’s palettes.
