Maybelline’s FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter collection

These were the first FaceStudio highlighters that Maybelline released - and at first it was just Gold, Peach, and Topaz. Rose Gold was a slightly later addition. (Kind of surprising, since rose gold has been “the” color for makeup collections to have for the past four years.) All of these have the same properties: an amazing, supersoft texture, a bright metallic finish, even pigmentation, and a formula that sinks into your skin and stays in place really well. It does blend out, but for me (at least) there was an initial danger of applying too much. These definitely need to be applied with a light hand and a softer brush.

The four highlighters, swatched: Molten Gold, Molten Peach, Molten Rose Gold, and Molten Topaz.

I like how there are four shades, so that even at the start a wider range of skintones could find a good highlighter. Topaz is a little too deep for me to use as a face highlighter, but I can use it on my eyes and I really like the results. (I may also try using Gold or Peach over a deeper red blush for a winter-holiday look. I love a lot of the deeper blushes that I own, but I can't wear them every day, or I have to apply them EXCEEDINGLY sparingly.)

This collection contained:

  • Molten Gold
  • Molten Rose Gold (my personal favorite)
  • Molten Peach
  • Molten Topaz
