Maybelline’s FaceStudio Master Holographic Prismatic Highlighter collection

These were released after the debut of the Chrome Metallic highlighters…and it seemed like there were a few iridescent-white-and-purple highlighter pairings released around this time! (Wet n Wild’s Goth o Glam collection had its white and purple highlighters, too.) These are slightly sparklier than the metallic highlighters, and these have an iridescent effect. These read more like “festival-season” highlighters to me, even though they were released in the middle of winter, FAR away from festival season.

The two prismatic highlighters, close-up detail and swatched: Purple, and Opal

Both look fairly good, laying down a slight amount of sheer color and a suggestion of sparkle rather than a more obvious glitter. I don't know that either would look amazing on deeper warm skintones, though I'm sure that there are people who would be able to make it work. (Maybelline, why no warm-based holographic highlighter to let more people play? I'm neutral-cool fair, and I'd totally buy it a peach, apricot, or coral holographic highlighter. Y'all maybe missed the boat...or is that in a forthcoming release?)

This collection contained:

  • Opal — sheer white with pink iridescence
  • Purple — sheer purple with blue iridescence
