It must be yellow polishes. All three of the colors from the Zang Toi NYFW 2012 collection were a little thinner and required more coats for full coverage; but Piaf is the most uneven of them all. I've had similar problems with other yellow polishes, not just Zoya. It makes me wonder if there's some chemical compound in yellow oxides or coloring agents, that just doesn't play well with others. It's a bit frustrating, because palette-wise, the set of Piaf-Geigei-Julie is a really lovely spring combination. This yellow is soft enough for anyone to wear in just about any season, and it isn't an overly orange or green-undertoned yellow. The shade is wonderful. I just wish that it applied just a little better.
The yellow shade is a soft spring pastel, very attractive. It reminds me faintly of Zoya's Creamy. (In fact, that might be a good undercoat for this color…as long as there's a white color under Creamy, which has its own even-application problems.) Because of the slight texturing, Piaf isn't really very easily usable for nail stamping. It might be problematic used for freehand, as well. Dotting would probably work just fine, though - and since that would apply the polish in a much smaller area, the uneven application wouldn't be nearly as noticeable.
I think that this polish will apply better, and require fewer coats for coverage, once it's aged/thickened a bit. It is also semisheer at one coat, so you could use it as a tinted topcoat if you wished. Just make sure that the yellow works with the color of whatever polish you have on underneath!!
