Aromaleigh v2.1’s Matte Saga One collection

Aromaleigh v2.1’s Matte Saga One collection

I really wanted to love these. I really did. I remember Aromaleigh v1’s mattes: great consistency, applied well wet or dry, not chalky or clayey…just really great mattes in a variety of colors. Sadly, this is not a return to that formula. These work fine for dry application....

I like these three colors…used with other shades. Sitting altogether, they’re attractive enough. But Cultured Pearl can be used as a highlighter only if you’re very careful with the application. And Black Pearl can only really be used as a crease color if it’s over a...

Shiro Cosmetics’ Is Mayonnaise an Instrument?

Shiro Cosmetics’ Is Mayonnaise an Instrument?

This shade applies a bit more muted than it looks in the pot…which is a good thing, if a color this orange is offputting. The shade is muted a little, but doesn't look sheered out. I was kind of hoping for a more vivid orange, but…eh. This makes...

BareMinerals’ Legacy

Dark enough that I can easily use this as a liner - I actually have trouble using it as a crease color because just a little bit of the shadow lays down a LOT of pigmentation. It's not easy to blend unless you're really really good…or, at least, a...

BareMinerals’ My Fair Lady kit

BareMinerals’ My Fair Lady kit

A kit from the first years of BE’s partnership with QVC…I’m assuming. I can’t find any release-date information for it, but all of the colors were available for individual purchase by 2007. I don’t know that I’d wear them all at the same time, because...

BareMinerals’ Get Started: Light to Medium kit

BareMinerals’ Get Started: Light to Medium kit

These “get started” kits have probably been around, in one form or another, since a few years after BE started. Currently, they exist…but they’re broken up more granularly (color depth as well as warm/neutral/cool) and the focus more on the foundation, mineral veil, and other face...

Jordana’s Cat Eye Liner in Twilight

Jordana’s Cat Eye Liner in Twilight

I think this may be my least favorite of the Jordana Cat Eyeliner shades that I own. (I don't own the lighter blue, the lighter purple, or the light green.) The application, the finish, the durability, all are right on par with the rest of the line. I just don't...

BareMinerals’ Big and Bright eyeliner in Oz

BareMinerals’ Big and Bright eyeliner in Oz

A near-metallic finish that applies really well, very evenly. It's like getting the best attributes of several liners: retractable, saturated color, metallic finish, excellently smooth and even application, great staying power. So, of course, it figures that not only was this line discontinued, this color was limited-edition and only found...

Persephone Minerals’ Carlina Mystical highlighter

Persephone Minerals’ Carlina Mystical highlighter

This works very well as a highlighter for me - it's a neutral shade, its shimmer is not a green or blue, and the base color isn't white (sometimes using white to brighten an area works, sometimes…not quite so much.) Reminds me a bit of BE's Clear Radiance, but...

BareMinerals’ Triple Take Color, Gloss and Stain in Berry Mauve

BareMinerals’ Triple Take Color, Gloss and Stain in Berry Mauve

Posted on Friday, at

The closest that these ever came to “cool toned” - not really purple, but closer than the other two shades. This is a great color on me. I think I would have loved it as much even if the shade had been just a little more “berry” than “mauve.”
