BareMinerals’ Leslie’s Three Wishes kit

BareMinerals’ Leslie’s Three Wishes kit

I held off on this kit because I figured: it’s another BE kit from QVC. The fill levels will be pretty poor…as has (in)famously happened with several recent QVC kits, like Destination Key West and the Most Wanted Volume III. And it’ll probably be sheer colors anyway…as has been the case with many BE kits. I finally broke down in mid-December, when many items were on sale (buy multiples, save $4 on the 2nd, 3rd, et...

When I saw the photos of the Ghost Stories collection, I thought this would be the one I was least interested in. Once I swatched all three…it became my favorite item from this collection. The silver-white color initially looks a bit odd; but when you apply it to your arm (or cheeks, or eyelids) most of the white is nearly transparent. Instead, you get a silver-pink iridescent shimmer, a bit similar to MAC's Vanilla pigment. I can see this...

Meow Cosmetics’ Past glow powder

This was the most pigmented of the three glow powders from the Ghost Stories collection. This can work as an eye color as well as an eye liner, but I think it will require a very light hand and a fiber optic brush to work as a cheek color. I might be able to get some interesting costume-oid effects using this as a lip color.

Meow Cosmetics’ Serenity

Serenity is less strongly metallic than Astonish, and it also has a faint taupe component that Astonish doesn't have…but they are similar. Serenity is a good elegant-neutral shade for me, because of my overall coloring and especially my eye color. I originally didn't have this swatched along with the rest of the Holiday Wishes collection, because this is either the one sample I forgot to order or the one sample I lost; but after seeing swatches of it on...

The red sheen almost puts this color over into “yellow-orange” territory, in some lighting. I love how it's a metallic version of Aromaleigh v1's Georgiana. It's also similar to, but a bit warmer than, Aromaleigh v1's Be Mine.

This is almost a blued pewter-grey, very much like Trixy and She Does Sparkle. The blueness isn't as strong in natural light, or under regular lightbulbs; but I suspect that this, like Trixy and She Does Sparkle, will be another color I keep ‘putting away' in the wrong group!

This purple is so dark it's almost brown. It is dark enough and pigmented enough to easily be used as a regular liner shade.

Not quite a cranberry red, not quite wine, but definitely not another “holiday-apple red”. It was nice to see this entire collection, along with Xmas Ghost Stories. This color isn't dark enough to easily be used as a standard liner color, but it works as a liner - just be sure to wetline it, or lay it over the top of a dark pencil or gel liner if you want more depth.
