CND’s Vinylux Contradictions collection

The overall palette reminds me of Modern Folklore: vampy reds, some deep dusky blues, a darker purple. There are a mix of finishes and textures, though…and two lighter colors: a pink, and a gilded-silver. I have all but two of these polishes, and I may go back for Grommet at one point. (I don’t know yet.)

CND’s Vinylux Contradictions collection

When I first saw the collection, I was instantly drawn to Peacock Plume and Tartan Punk. Couture Covet looked like it might - might - be just barely too dark for me to use as anything but an accent or nail-art shade, but it's a definite blue, not a blue-leaning black. Naked Naiveté and Safety Pin, the two lighter shades, are also attractive...even if the former has a slightly problematic formula. I was not at all interested in Poison Plum because I am not a fan of chunky-glitter polishes, but for those who are, this will be a nice addition to the Vinylux line.

This collection contained:

  • Couture Covet — deep teal creme
  • Grommet — deep cool blue-grey shimmer
  • Naked Naiveté — pale soft pink creme
  • Peacock Plume — deep-sapphire shimmer
  • Poison Plum — medium-deep purple sparkle (glitter)
  • Rouge Rite — deep berry-red creme
  • Safety Pin — gilded-silver foil
  • Tartan Punk — rose-red high-shine creme
