Zoya’s Reagan

Zoya’s Reagan

Posted on Wednesday, at

Yes, this is vaguely similar to Zoya's Areej, from last summer's collection. Reagan is a bit cooler, though. It's a creme finish, and it covers completely with two coats. (I could probably have gotten one-coat coverage had I applied the polish a little thicker, but…I'm cautious.) I initially thought...

China Glaze’s Colors from the Capital collection

China Glaze’s Colors from the Capital collection

Posted on Tuesday, at

Originally this was going to be called “Capitol Colors” Pictures of the proposed shades began showing up on the Internet. Then came The Drama. The studio behind the film tried to deny involvement with any such collection, China Glaze’s parent company American International Industries sued them for breach of...

Shiro Cosmetics’ Tributes collection

Shiro Cosmetics’ Tributes collection

Shiro’s collections tend to cover a good color range, even if they stick with a tone (brights, greyed, softer…) This collection doesn’t stick with one of those themes, so much. There aren’t many “light” colors, though Baker’s Boy and Wildflowers do come close. (Going solely on...

Everyday Minerals’ Christmas Carol

Everyday Minerals’ Christmas Carol

One of three eyeshadows in the Snow Angels holiday kit...which, I admit, I got primarily for the blushes (which are both gorgeous on me, by the way.) This color actually looks quite different when applied dry versus foiled - foiling gives a deeper, dusty-moss-sage shade. This color has decent...

My Pretty Zombie’s Disquiet

My Pretty Zombie’s Disquiet

Posted on Monday, at

I initially wasn't too sure of this color. I had only bought a few shades with My Pretty Zombie, and they ranged from "okay, about average" to "don't love this color" to knocking my socks off (the entire Blue Period trio.) This color is a little greener than it appears...

TKB Trading’s True Green

TKB Trading’s True Green

Posted on Monday, at

I admit, my color-comparison language is a little weak when it comes to true greens. Is this kelly? New-leaf? I don't know, and I don't care - this is an absolutely gorgeous shade! Bright jeweltone shimmer, wonderfully rich color, good payoff. This is a straight mica from wholesaler TKB, so...

There are some reports of malware circulating on Blogger and Blogspot sites. This can happen when someone installs a widget that doesn't come from a trusted source, or that DOES come from a trusted source but pulls in a file from a third source…and that third source gets hacked....

NYX Cosmetics’ Jumbo Lip Pencil in Soft Fuchsia

NYX Cosmetics’ Jumbo Lip Pencil in Soft Fuchsia

Posted on Friday, at

Once again, NYX's Department of Naming Things leaves me utterly confused. I get the “soft” part of this shade, but…“fuchsia?” Salmon-rose, tanned rose, rose-mauve, sure…but “fuchsia?” From whence did that come??? Despite the name, this color is in the general area of rose-neutral, and looks flattering on me....
